John Abraham Reacts to Vedaa’s Box Office Results: “There’s Disappointment, You Feel Awful, But…”

John Abraham Addresses Vedaa’s Underperformance

Actor John Abraham has spoken candidly about the underwhelming box office performance of his latest film, “Vedaa“. Despite the film not meeting expectations, John stands firmly by the project and its message.

Directed by Nikkhil Advani, the action-packed drama was released during the Independence Day weekend but struggled to hold its ground amidst fierce competition.

The Struggles of Competing with Blockbusters

Vedaa” faced a tough challenge at the box office, going up against other major releases. Nikkhil Advani, the film’s director, humorously suggested that the only thing he’d change about the circumstances would be to turn “Stree 2“— one of the year’s biggest hits—into a “terrible film.”

This light-hearted remark highlights the intense competition “Vedaa” was up against, which likely contributed to its lackluster performance.

John Abraham’s Continued Support for Vedaa

In an interview with Radio City, John Abraham was asked about the film’s performance. While he admitted that “Vedaa” didn’t perform as well as he had hoped, he expressed unwavering support for the project.

“It’s a brave film to do,” John said. “More than success and failure, it’s the message you’re sharing through your film that’s more important.”

John acknowledged that the film’s heavy subject matter might have deterred some audiences. However, he respects the choices of viewers, stating, “If people aren’t interested in watching films with heavy subjects, that’s their decision. I respect it. But at the end of the day, you have to face the issue.”

Pride in Craftsmanship Despite Commercial Performance

Despite Vedaa’s commercial outcome, John took pride in the film’s craftsmanship and the efforts of the entire team. I am very proud of the excellent film we produced.

This may be Nikkhil and my best work together, he stated. He acknowledged that it’s common to feel regret when a movie doesn’t perform well at the box office, but in the case of “Vedaa“, he believes they did “practically everything right.”

John also recognized that while some critics may have issues with the screenplay, he respects all opinions. He praised the entire team, from the cast to the technical departments, adding,

“It’s acceptable for people to find things to criticize about the script. We value everyone’s point of view. But I’m happy we made a good movie.”

The Inspiration Behind Vedaa

John further discussed the real-life events that inspired “Vedaa“. He mentioned several high-profile rape cases that influenced the film’s story, underlining the serious and sensitive nature of its subject matter.

John emphasized that addressing such difficult issues was a priority for him, even if it didn’t translate into box office success.

Focus on Commercial Success

While John is proud of “Vedaa“, he made it clear that his primary goal remains creating commercially successful films. He noted that “Vedaa” is the latest in a string of box office disappointments for him,

following films like “Attack: Part 1“, “Mumbai Saga“, and “Ek Villain Returns“.However, he did find success with “Pathaan“, where he played the main antagonist. As “Vedaa” continues to earn modestly, having made around Rs 20 crore so far, John remains reflective yet hopeful. He stands by his choices and the hard work that went into the film, maintaining a positive outlook on his career’s future trajectory.
