Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Emergency’ Postponed: Release Delayed Amid Controversy and Certification Issues

Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Emergency’ Faces Unexpected Delay: Release Pushed Beyond September 6

‘Emergency’ Postponed: An Unexpected Setback

The highly anticipated film Emergency, starring Kangana Ranaut, was initially set to hit the big screens on September 6. Kangana, who takes on the challenging role of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, has been at the forefront of the film’s promotion.

However, the film’s release has now been unexpectedly postponed, much to the disappointment of her fans.

Controversy Surrounding ‘Emergency’

The film has been embroiled in controversy for several weeks, with Sikh religious bodies raising objections over what they perceive as a negative portrayal of their community. These protests led to legal actions against the filmmakers, further complicating the film’s release.

Taran Adarsh Confirms Postponement

Renowned film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed that Emergency will not release on the initially planned date of September 6.

While the filmmakers have yet to make an official announcement, this delay marks yet another setback for the film, which was originally scheduled for a November release.

Kangana, who transitioned from acting to directing with this project, has been passionately promoting the film, but the new release date remains under wraps.

Kangana’s Clarification: Certification Issues Amid Threats

On August 30, Kangana Ranaut took to her social media to share a video explaining the reasons behind the delay. In the video,

she revealed that the film had initially received approval from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) but was later revoked. According to Kangana, the CBFC requested revisions to the film due to mounting threats and pressure from various groups.

Kangana Addresses the Public

Kangana’s social media post addressed the swirling rumors about Emergency’s certification status. Although the film was initially cleared, the certification has now been withheld due to the increasing threats. Even the members of the censor board have been receiving threats,” she stated in the video.

Awaiting a New Release Date

As the film’s release date remains uncertain, fans eagerly await an official update from the filmmakers.

Despite the hurdles, Kangana remains determined, continuing her efforts to bring Emergency to the audience. The delay, while disappointing, underscores the challenges faced by filmmakers in bringing sensitive historical narratives to the big screen.
