The Diary of West Bengal’ Nears its Budget in Just 5 Days

In the vibrant world of cinema, all kinds of films are made. While comedy is a genre loved by many, drama-filled movies have their own unique charm.

Some films, however, stand out by portraying true stories, leaving a lasting impact on audiences. One such film is The Diary of West Bengal, which is now close to recovering its production budget in just five days.

Sanoj Mishra’s Bold Attempt at Unveiling the Truth

Sanoj Mishra, who has been an integral part of the film industry for years, has once again displayed his courage by tackling a sensitive topic with The Diary of West Bengal. This film explores the complex socio-political landscape of Bengal, where love and harmony exist, but violence also lurks beneath the surface.

In an exclusive interview with Jagran.com, Sanoj Mishra shared insights into the making of this film, and how it reflects the struggles and efforts of the people of Bengal to overcome the challenges they face.

Film Nears Its Budget

Made on a budget of ₹5 crores, The Diary of West Bengal has already collected ₹4.5 crores. The film was released across 6,000 screens, which played a significant role in its success. Shot in various locations around Kolkata.

Sanoj Mishra revealed that while filming seemed straightforward at first, it quickly became a daunting task, especially in jungle areas where some of the scenes were filmed. Mishra also disclosed that he received threatening calls before the release, with some even calling for the film to be banned.

Kangana Ranaut: The Only Support Amidst Controversy

During the controversy surrounding the film, Sanoj Mishra faced significant challenges, and the only person who stepped forward in his support was Kangana Ranaut. Just days before the film’s release.

He was called to Kolkata by the police due to growing tensions and disputes around the movie. Feeling unsafe, Mishra left the city abruptly, cutting off all communication, and causing concern about his whereabouts for some time.

Positive Response from Audiences

The Diary of West Bengal hit theaters on August 30, 2024. Initially, the film was permitted to release only in Mumbai, Delhi, and South India.

However, due to an overwhelmingly positive response, the number of screens increased from 600 to 1,000. The makers are thrilled with the audience’s reception, as the film continues to gain momentum.
